Use this module to enable automatic role assignements based on the Pass Codes people provide

UCanUse Item Registration provides the back end for adding the power of User Pass Codes and serial numbers on your web site.

Using UCanUse Pass Codes or another code generation and management module, you can distribute Pass Codes to your customers or other individuals for various purposes such as product serial numbers or codes that can be used to gain certain privileges within your web site or portal.

Consider using User Attributes to let people register their items. We have written an invisible controls that works with User Attributes. These controls validate the code users enter against the codes listed in this Item Registration module. If the code they enter is valid, the controls check if you want to assign any Security Roles to the user using a specific code. If so, those Security Roles will then be assigned.

Here is one example of how we use this module.

We include a module called IMC Add Group with our UCanUse Membership Services Suite. The IMC Add Group module is used to validate a user Pass Code using the Item Registration module. If the code validates, the Item it is associated is checked aliong with the associated Security Roles for tha titem. The user is then automatically assigned those Secuirty Roles and a new Group is created on the fly,making that user the Group Administrator. Then, using the UCanUse Delegated Administration module, the IMC Add Group module triggers the generation of a complete Group Framework consisting of dedicated folders, Security Roles and pages complete with ready-to-use modules for that Group. The user is then redirected to their new Group Administration page.

Using IMC (Inter Module Communication) with User Attributes, we can produce any type of functionality you need to effectively use Pass Codes that you distribute to users for whatever purpose you want.

Item Registration Includes:

A form to list any items you want to associate Pass Codes with
A form to associate Pass Codes with each of those items
A form to map Security Roles with each of those items

List and manage users who have used those Pass Codes by registering items using the UCanUse Item Registration Module in conjunction with UCanUse User Attributes

2) UCanUse User Attributes

This is a customizable registration and profile update module
Use the free and invisible IMC User Code module to interface with UCanUse Item Registration to validate the Pass Codes users enter, to assign any associated Security Roles and to record the registration of items associated with the entered Pass Code
If you use a separate user registraiton form, you can stil use User Attribuets for item registrations
